DMCA / Copyright Policy

classicemu.com respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects our users to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. §512, we respond promptly to valid notices of alleged copyright infringement. This page explains how rights holders may submit a takedown request, how users may file a counter-notification, and our repeat-infringer policy.

Filing a Takedown Notice

To file a notice of alleged infringement, the copyright owner or an authorized agent must send a written communication to our designated copyright agent (below) that includes all of the following information as required by 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3):

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (e.g., title, game name, ROM identifier), or, if multiple works are covered by a single notice, a representative list of such works.
  3. Identification of the specific material that is claimed to be infringing and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, including the exact URL or other sufficient location information on classicemu.com.
  4. Adequate contact information for the complaining party, including full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that the complaining party has a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate and that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

Designated Copyright Agent

All takedown notices should be sent to our designated copyright agent at [email protected]. We aim to acknowledge and process valid notices within 72 hours. Please include "DMCA Takedown Notice" in the subject line and ensure your notice includes all six elements listed above to avoid processing delays.

Counter-Notification

If you believe that material you posted was removed or disabled in error or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification. A valid counter-notification must include: (1) your physical or electronic signature; (2) identification of the removed material and its location before removal; (3) a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification; and (4) your name, address, telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district where classicemu.com may be found). We will forward the counter-notification to the original complainant and may restore the material within 10–14 business days unless we receive notice that legal action has been filed.

Repeat-Infringer Policy

In accordance with 17 U.S.C. §512(i), classicemu.com maintains and applies, in appropriate circumstances, a policy of terminating the accounts of users who are determined to be repeat infringers. Upon receipt of valid takedown notices, we will promptly remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material and notify the affected user. A second valid infringement determination may result in permanent account termination and a ban from future registration.
