Arkanoid II is Taito’s NES take on the classic brick-breaker formula, adding more elaborate stage layouts and stronger power-ups. Players control the Vaus paddle craft, bouncing a energy ball to destroy colorful blocks and obstacles. It keeps the original arcade pace and difficulty, and is remembered for its tight controls and addictive stage-by-stage challenge.

The game uses a single-screen, side-on playfield. Move the paddle left and right to catch the ball and redirect it into blocks. Clearing every block advances to the next stage, while power-ups such as paddle expansion, laser fire, multiball, speed changes, and shields can drop from destroyed bricks. Some stages include enemies and special barriers, so success depends on precise positioning, angle control, and smart power-up use. Progress is linear through stages, and losing all balls costs a life.

Vaus

The player-controlled paddle ship used to return the energy ball and clear bricks.

DOH

A recurring series antagonist associated with the destruction-themed stages and final challenge.

Protect ball control first; a stable rally is usually safer than chasing every item. Wide paddle coverage helps recover difficult shots, while laser and multiball are especially useful in dense brick formations. In later stages, avoid overcommitting to risky power-ups and focus on maintaining a playable angle.
