Developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, Crash Bandicoot is one of the defining platformers of the original PlayStation era. Players control the genetically enhanced marsupial Crash as he fights Dr. Neo Cortex across jungles, temples, factories, and fortified islands. Its linear stages, crate collection, and signature corridor-style 3D presentation helped establish both the series and Sony's early mascot identity.

The game uses a third-person 3D platforming perspective with mostly forward-moving linear stages, alongside a few side-scrolling and chase sequences. Crash can jump, spin attack, and crouch to defeat enemies, avoid hazards, and break crates for Wumpa Fruit and collectibles. Some levels add animal rides, rolling boulders, slippery platforms, or timed escape segments. Checkpoints divide stages, and earning gems usually requires breaking every crate and meeting special stage conditions.

Crash Bandicoot

The mutated bandicoot hero who relies on jumping and spin attacks.

Dr. Neo Cortex

The main villain, a scientist attempting world domination through evolution experiments.

Dr. N. Brio

Cortex's assistant and fellow scientist involved in the experiment.

Tawna

Crash's companion and an important character in the early story.

Learn the timing of the spin attack, which offers brief invincibility and is useful against both enemies and crates. In tight platform sections, prioritize safe landings over speed. For gem runs, memorize hidden crates, bonus paths, and side routes, since missing even one crate can block 100% completion. In chase stages, learn the route first and focus on survival before collecting extra fruit.

Tips

Master jump spacing early; many deaths come from overcommitting to small platforms.

Tips

Check every bonus route carefully, since hidden crates are often easy to miss.

Tips

Boss fights are pattern-based, so watching one cycle first can make them much easier.
