Battles play out on a top-down grid in turn-based fashion. You move Marth and recruited units across maps, using terrain, chokepoints, and weapon matchups to defeat enemy forces. Units that fall in battle are generally lost permanently, so positioning, healing, and careful resource use matter greatly. Between maps, you manage the roster, equipment, and character progression as new allies and items become available.
