Battles play out on a top-down grid in turn-based fashion. You move Marth and recruited units across maps, using terrain, chokepoints, and weapon matchups to defeat enemy forces. Units that fall in battle are generally lost permanently, so positioning, healing, and careful resource use matter greatly. Between maps, you manage the roster, equipment, and character progression as new allies and items become available.
Marth
Prince of Altea and the main protagonist, leading the resistance to reclaim his homeland.
Caeda
A pegasus knight whose mobility makes her valuable for scouting, rescue, and quick strikes.
Ogma
A sturdy veteran mercenary who serves as a dependable frontline unit early on.
Jagen
An experienced paladin who supports the army in the opening chapters and helps stabilize the early game.
Protect valuable units and avoid sending fragile characters forward alone. Use mounted and flying units to seize objectives quickly, but keep them away from bows and effective weapons. Keep your healer close to the main force, and regroup when necessary. Before engaging a boss, clear nearby enemies first, then focus attacks with accurate weapons and support from durable allies.
Tips
Carry spare weapons so your main attackers do not run out of durability at a critical moment.
Tips
Prioritize leveling key units like Marth and your main damage dealers to reduce later map pressure.
Tips
Check enemy ranges before advancing, then pull foes in small groups and eliminate them on favorable terrain.
