Kirby's Avalanche is a competitive puzzle game developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo as a Western localization of Panel de Pon. Players clear matching colored blobs to build chains and send garbage blocks to an opponent. Wrapped in Kirby series characters, it is known for its brisk pace, tactical chaining, and strong presentation, and remains a well-regarded SNES puzzle title.

The game uses a stack-based, vertical playfield where adjacent blocks are swapped to form groups of four or more matching colors. Matching groups vanish, causing blocks above them to fall and potentially trigger chain reactions. Those chains send garbage blocks to the rival side. In single-player, you face increasingly difficult CPU opponents. Success depends on reading the board quickly, managing stack height, and setting up delayed combos rather than making only small clears.

Kirby

The main visual mascot of the game and the face of the presentation.

King Dedede

A classic Kirby series character appearing as one of the opposing puzzle challengers.

Meta Knight

A prominent Kirby series character featured among the CPU opponents.

Waddle Dee

A recurring Kirby character used as part of the game's cast of opponents.

Keep the lower part of your board organized and build for chain reactions instead of chasing tiny clears. Leave room in the center so you can recover when garbage blocks arrive. If the CPU is pressuring you, clear safely first and then rebuild toward a larger combo. Learning the color flow of the falling pieces helps you prepare chain triggers in advance.
