Super Robot Wars: Original Generation is a Game Boy Advance tactical RPG developed and published by Banpresto. Instead of using licensed anime robots, it centers on original pilots, mecha, and a standalone military sci-fi setting. The game combines grid-based battles, Spirit Commands, unit upgrades, and support mechanics into a dense strategy experience. Its polished presentation and strong cast made it a highly regarded foundation for the OG sub-series.

Battles play out on overhead grid maps in turn-based missions. Players move units, choose weapons based on range, ammo, and EN cost, and use Spirit Commands to improve accuracy, defense, or damage output. Support attack and support defense add positional depth, while pilots gain levels and abilities through repeated combat. Missions feature objectives such as defeating bosses, defending allies, or clearing maps under specific conditions. Money and PP earned after stages are used to upgrade mecha and develop pilots.

Ryusei Date

One of the main protagonists, a hot-blooded pilot associated with the Grungust line and the SRX Project.

Kyosuke Nanbu

A calm and pragmatic protagonist known for his aggressive battle style and his connection to the Alteisen line.

Excellen Browning

Kyosuke's cheerful partner, specializing in mobility and ranged support combat.

Raiodin?

Focus your early funds on a small core of reliable units instead of spreading upgrades across the whole roster. Improve accuracy and armor on front-line mecha, and pay attention to boss counterattack ranges before committing. Use Spirit Commands efficiently, especially for hit rate and survivability against evasive enemies. Terrain matters a lot, so place units where their movement and defense affinities give the best advantage. If you are aiming for battle mastery points, push objectives quickly and avoid unnecessary damage.
