The game alternates between overhead exploration and turn-based tactical battles. In towns and on the world map, you talk to NPCs, buy gear, and recruit new allies. During combat, each unit acts in turn on a grid, moving, attacking, casting spells, or using items. Terrain such as hills, forests, and walls affects movement and combat performance. Fallen allies are lost for the battle if they are defeated before victory. As characters level up, they gain stronger abilities, and some classes can promote under the right conditions.

Max

The protagonist and commander of the Force, leading the resistance against Darksol.

Darksol

The fallen god and main antagonist threatening the kingdom of Guardiana and the world.

Lowe

An early support character who provides healing and utility magic.

Build a balanced squad with front-line fighters, healers, and ranged attackers. Use terrain to your advantage by holding hills and forests when possible. Keep healers protected and avoid overextending a single unit too far ahead. Recruit allies thoroughly by talking to NPCs in towns, since many useful characters are optional. Prioritize upgrades for key units instead of spreading resources too thin.
