The game uses side-view arena battles on 2D-style stages. Players build damage percentages through attacks; the higher the percentage, the farther opponents fly when struck. Controls include standard attacks, directional attacks, jumps, shields, grabs, throws, and character-specific special moves. In addition to single-player modes, it features multiplayer free-for-alls, stock matches, and time matches. Victory is achieved by knocking opponents off the stage rather than depleting a life bar.
